I have just returned from my first ever camping trip, it was rather last minute but since I had a 4 day weekend and no other plans, off I went. Recently, I was raiding through a box of old things and I found a brand new backpack which was the perfect size for me, along with a sleeping bag and other useful items. What better time to try them out than a sunny April weekend!
Venturing into the woods, I hadn’t planned a specific route I decided to go with the flow.
Checking the map to see where I should go next.
Having a quick lunch break, mmm freshly grown plants (drool).
Taking a closer look at something interesting on the horizon, binoculars were one of the useful things I found in my backpack.
Found a peak to climb so I could view the area I had hiked through, so beautiful and green.
It’s hard work rolling out a sleeping bag when you have short arms! I was very tired after a long day of hiking through the countryside.
And that was my first ever camping trip. I really enjoyed my night sleeping under the stars. It really helped me to fully relax and ground myself after a stressful week which left me feeling quite anxious. Switching off all of my electronics let me fully recharge and return feeling rested. I wasn’t a fan of sleeping on the floor, maybe next time I’ll try glamping (or find a B&B). I definitely enjoyed my trip to the countryside and I am looking forward to visiting again sometime soon. I’d definitely recommend a weekend in the countryside camping to everyone, especially those prone to stress or mental health issues because the slower pace helps restore and balance positive emotions.
