Eating in Dubai

Often when I’m not off exploring a new place, you can find me eating. Whilst in Dubai I was in restaurant and coffee heaven! I have never known one place have a choice of so many delicious places to eat. Unfortunately I didn’t spend long enough in Dubai to try them all. But here are a few of the places I went.

Il Cafe di Roma

Located on The Walk JBR, opposite the Hilton. It quickly became my go to place for a coffee whilst in the area. It’s a lot cheaper than the restaurants on the seafront and is also a great place to people watch. I really enjoyed watching the super cars from this spot because so many drive by. It’s also close to some of the amazing wall art JBR has to offer.

Catch 22

Beach side eating in Dubai has so many choices. Catch 22 in JBR has the biggest menu I have ever seen. Vegan sushi is something I have never even heard of, but couldn’t resist trying. The salad was so big I would have struggled to eat it on my own. But as a sharing lunch it worked perfectly. My favourite part of eating in Dubai has to be the mocktails. As a sober adventursaurus, I normally have to miss out when the cocktails are ordered, Dubai changed this and I just love the mojitos from Catch 22.

Cheesecake Factory

A lot of fellow adventursaurus’ recommended The Cheesecake Factory to me, so I thought I would try since the restaurant was around the corner to my hotel. Sadly, I wouldn’t rate this place at all. The portion sizes were too big (I find that puts me off) and everything seemed to be for carnivores. The lemonade was huge, but really sugary. I was most disappointed with the cheescake. Anywhere with cheese cake in the name should be amazing. Sickly and over sized, the cheesecake tasted like it was from the freezer aisle in Tesco. I’m sad to go against my fellow adventursaurus’ but I really wouldn’t rate this place.

Most. Photogenic. Mojito. Ever.

Genuinely the best place I ate in Dubai, not that anywhere was terrible. The view from the Dubai Mall was lovely, I could see the fountains and some of the Burj Khalifa. It is the first restaurant I’ve been to which has a vast array of vegan options, that weren’t an after thought. I ended up having two baguette sandwiches which were to die for! It’s so nice to go to a restaurant and not be handed a bowl of leaves and told it’s the only vegan option. A great option for dining on a budget in Dubai. I’d love to visit after dark to see the Burj Khalifa sparkling.

Costa – Souk Madinat Jumeirah and SkiDubai

As I have lots of Costa Coffee’s near me in the UK, it was the last place I envisioned myself visiting in Dubai. But, it turns out they had great views and seriously cheap prices. I initially believed Souk Madinat Jumeirah would be too expensive to eat, but Costa provided me with an affordable coffee stop and beautiful views of the Burj Al Arab.

The Costa in Mall of the Emirates allowed me to watch the penguins and snowy scene of Ski Dubai. Well worth a visit to see the indoor skiing in the middle of the desert, without having to get cold.

Le Pain Quotidien

Cute, homely and unique. This is my photographer’s favourite place to escape the crowds in Dubai Mall. It’s on the basement floor, just around the corner from the waterfall. It seems to be overlooked in comparison with the more famous branded coffee houses. I felt like I was in a Parisian bakery, the smell of freshly baked bread was filling the room while I drank coffee. I also found it to be a very instagrammable coffee, with nice coffee art! I was almost sad to drink my mocha.
